In September, some of the Westcountry Rivers Trust team will be running alongside the River Exe, taking part in the Salmon Run. Annabel and James from the Land Team will be running the relay from Bickleigh to Tiverton. Dan from the fisheries team will be taking on the 43-mile Ultra Marathon running from Exmouth to Dulverton! Come down and meet our fisheries scientists and engagement team at Sideshore in Exmouth to learn all about Salmon, rivers and how you can play your part.
The Salmon Run combines community, nature, running and art to highlight the migratory journey of the critically endangered Atlantic salmon on the River Exe from sea to spawning ground and the challenges they face in an all-day event with lots of different ways to take part. A community celebration for all including a festival in Exmouth and short and long runs along the River Exe. Over 43 miles from Exmouth to Dulverton, Exmoor, connecting communities in city, towns and villages along the river to learn about and protect this remarkable endangered species, its journey and significance for our river and culture and to learn what we can do to help.
Salmon Run: The Gathering at Sideshore Exmouth will 9.30-1pm featuring creative and music workshops, talks – including river restoration, a restored Exe Salmon fishing boat, games and a river bouncy castle with Westcountry Rivers Trust. At Dulverton, Exmoor Park Rangers, Westcountry Rivers Trust, Friends of the River Exe and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra outreach will greet the arriving runners from 3.30pm.
See website for more details on how to be part of the community relay running one section (between 2 – 7 miles), ultra marathon (43 miles) and for event timings. https://tidelines.uk/blog/salmon-run-2025/
