PLYMOUTH-based financial management firm Inspire Wealth has donated the equivalent of savings made following changes to its working practices to Westcountry Rivers Trust.
The firm of independent wealth advisers and discretionary fund managers has continued to support flexible hybrid working following the initial pandemic period and a switch to a paperless system.
Managing director Peter Williams said: “By launching our Virtual Service Proposition we have been able to lessen our travel and recycling impacts.
“This has allowed us to give £1,600 in savings to our chosen charity to help them continue to protect and restore the region’s rivers and freshwater habitats.
“With an office by the River Tamar, it seemed an appropriate way to support the health of a river on our doorstep and those further afield.”
Established in 1994, the Westcountry Rivers Trust has been instrumental in the growing UK rivers movement, with its work underpinned by science, evidence, and experience, plus a commitment to rivers from source to sea.
WRT’s CEO Laurence Couldrick said: “This donation will help us to continue our work bringing rivers to life.
“When businesses like Inspire Wealth support us, we can do great things for our rivers and their health such as purchasing water testing kits for our dedicated citizen science volunteers or creating homes for wildlife along riverbanks, and more.”
The donation is a part of Inspire Wealth’s ongoing sustainability review. This has involved taking an active approach in implementing Environmental, Social and Governance principles which are fast becoming standard practice in the Financial Services Sector as investors seek to invest in companies that adhere to ethical and sustainable practices.
Peter added: “We are regularly evolving our environmental and sustainability practices as we learn and discover what we can improve within our business processes and systems.
“By doing so, we hope to continue our support and possibly add more support to environmental matters in the future.”
