We love rivers and want to help protect these habitats for nature and people.
This Saturday (26 June), three members of the WRT team – Simon, Nicola and Frank – are taking part in a 2.5km swim in the River Dart in Devon. The money that they raise will not only help us to continue to protect and care for Westcountry rivers but it will allow us and our CSI volunteers to carry on monitoring the health of our rivers. The money will help us to provide more kits and enable us to engage with more potential volunteers.
Simon said of his training – “I’m doing twice weekly swims in the Bude Sea Pool and am up to 14 lengths now – which is about 1.2km – I do a mix of front crawl and breaststroke and will try and get up to 20 lengths before the Dart swim.”
An iconic part of the landscape, rivers are vital. In the Westcountry, you are never further than 2 miles from your nearest river or stream. Help us protect our rivers.
