We’re excited to share that the Westcountry Rivers Trust is featured in the Ofwat Innovation Fund’s latest learning report, ‘From source to sea: harnessing nature and communities for whole catchment innovation’, published today. As part of a collaborative partnership led by South West Water and including Westcountry Rivers Trust , Duchy College , Environment Agency amongst others, we are delivering the Water Net Gain project, which is featured in the report.

In total, the report spotlights 8 projects that have received funding from Ofwat to explore innovative solutions that are restoring ecosystems, improving water quality and building resilience in our rivers, wetlands and coastal environments. Nature-first approaches and innovation must be at the heart of building a sustainable water future, and we’re proud of Water Net Gain’s role in contributing towards this.

Through our partnership, the project is exploring new ways to support farmers and water companies in their way to a resilient water supply while protecting associated river health pressures. We hope that others within and outside the water sector can learn from what our project and the others featured in the report have achieved so far. The aim of these reports are to help others to scale what works and learn from what hasn’t, for the benefit of customers, society and the environment.

Do get in touch if you’re interested in learning more about what we’re doing. The Ofwat Innovation Fund is a £600 million investment into solving the water sector’s biggest challenges between 2020-2030.
