Join us for an online interactive session to learn about techniques that communities at risk of flash flooding can use to improve their flood resilience.
Flood resilience actions can vary from community flood groups to flood warnings to slowing the flow through natural flood management. The evening will include talks on these different subjects and opportunities to give feedback on preferences.
Rapid Response type Catchments, or RRtCs, are small catchments (under 10km²) where high rainfall events can lead to flood water overwhelming downstream communities. Working in these catchments is increasingly important as climate change and changing weather patterns can increase the likeliness of flash flood events.
We have identified RRtCs in Walkhampton, Whitchurch and Ashburton with opportunities for natural flood management. We would like to work with you to identify these communities’ preferences for building flood resilience.
This work comes under the Devon Resilience Innovation Project (DRIP).
