Defra has shared a blog post (17 May) regarding the announcement that Ofwat’s enforcement capacity will be bolstered with an additional £11 million funding increase from HM Treasury.
This funding will enable the water regulator initiate change in water companies and hold them to account if they fall short of expectations. It will also support Ofwat in overseeing the next price review (PR24), which will expect more investment by water companies in improving their environmental performance and the resilience of the water sector.
