Scott West, one of WRT’s Fisheries Scientist’s recently attended a Wild Trout Trust workshop. Here is what he had to say…..

Scott_WestI attended a workshop run by the Wild Trout Trust (WTT) on one of their practical, in-river, workshops alongside the Environment Agency & local anglers on the Upper Exe catchment in Devon. This day was all about the fact that fish do live in trees! Installing wooded debris of all shapes and sizes helps provide habitats for fish, protect banks from erosion and create natural channel morphology.

The WTT really do know their stuff when it comes to creating this type of in-river feature and it was great to learn new techniques alongside the angling clubs and river keepers. What was achieved in one day was astonishing and this sort of support helps anglers continue to enhance and protect their waters in years to come.
